At the end of 2019, the Slovenian Beekeepers’ Association applied for an international public tender for the co-financing of NGO projects within the Bridge 47 project for the production of six 360-degree (3D stereoscopic) films that would bring beekeeping tasks closer to children, beginners in beekeeping and the general public. The project, which focuses on global learning projects, is called “Become a beekeeper for a short time” and was approved in March 2020 and is co-financed by the European Union and Bridge 47.

Our films, shot in 360-degree (stereoscopic 3D VR) technique, are available on the website and Youtube channel of the Slovenian Beekeepers’ Association They help users with getting to know the practical work in AZ-beehives and beekeeping in general and give them the feeling of performing the individual tasks themselves.

In the introductory credits of the films, we emphasize the informing of the public about the importance of bees and other pollinators for the conservation of biodiversity and the threat in the event of their loss, as well as the threats that plague bees and other pollinators. We also highlight efforts in what we can do to avoid ignorance, to ensure the conservation of bees and other pollinators, as well as human health and the conservation of biodiversity. Our films, shot in AZ-beehive systems, deal with the 6 different topics.

Film screenings are always accompanied by 2D and 3D graphics, which explain individual situations or tasks that the beekeeper performs.

All films can be viewed with VR glasses, which give the user a sense of depth, quality display, a sense of presence in space and the three-dimensionality of the task, and a realistic representation of the situation of a particular task. They can also be viewed via mobile phones, which allow the 360-degree viewing of the film by moving the phone in space. Standard mode on computers or on our Youtube channel is also possible, by using the mouse for a 360-degree view. Our films are a great and innovative addition to the classic teaching methods used in education. Through the depiction of various situations, the user will learn how to properly perform individual tasks in the apiary.
